SHIATSU
Shiatsu is a millenary science rooted on Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is based on the principle that our body has a series of energetic channels (meridians) through which vital energy (ki) circulates, ensuring a proper functioning of the whole organism. According to this oriental concept, diseases results from imbalances in this energy flow.
Shiatsu therapy is based on the use of light but deep pressure on energy points located in the meridians in order to balance and restore their energy. Treatment techniques also include breathing exercises, stretching, percussion and massage.
As a body technique, Shiatsu offers relaxation and frees tension, apart from strengthening the lymphatic and immune systems, promoting detoxification, strengthening the nervous system and helping recover vital tonus lost in the course of daily life.
HOW IT WORKS
Each session lasts approximately one hour.
The difference in relation to traditional massage is that Shiatsu is applied on the floor, over a futon (Japanese mattress) and the client remains clothed.
Shiatsu is based on Eastern medical philosophy. Its practice requires broad training, both in order to establish a correct diagnosis and to apply treatment and harmonisation techniques suited to the patient.
