The etymological origins of Macrobiotics are the Greek words "makro" e "bios", meaning, literally, "great life". It doesn't merely mean longevity, but also everything great that life contains: happiness, love, freedom, peace, harmony...
Based on millenary principles, Macrobiotics combines the healthiest traditions, both Eastern and Western, and is a philosophy and practical art of living which embraces and unifies all aspects of human civilisation and natural order.
Its discovery takes us on a quest for better quality at different levels (food, exercise, breathing, emotions, thought and human relations). It underlies the basic idea that the human being can recover and keep his/her health, as well as take responsibility for his/her life and develop a spirit of gratitude and respect for everything around him/her.
This course provides solid training in Eastern philosophy and macrobiotics, natural healthcare, cooking and oriental diagnosis.
Its aim is to provide students with theoretical tools which enable them to use natural therapeutical methods to obtain relief from common ailments, as well as the ability to make simple diagnoses according to the principles of oriental medicine.
In the culinary modules, students will learn to choose and prepare healthy meals that suit every person and specific circumstances. The course syllabus also includes an introduction to Shiatsu and to different types of movement.
The Macrobiotics Curricular Course offers a better understanding of today's problems, whilst it encourages the student to participate in the reorientation of society towards a more peaceful and sustainable path.
Students seeking vocational training will have the possibility to specialise at the end of the course under a macrobiotic consultant.
